Terri Kruse, 66, passed away surrounded by her children, January 30th, 2021 at her home in Shenandoah. She was a devoted mother, daughter, and best friend to many. She believed her greatest legacy was the love and kindness she showed others.
Terri was born November 14th, 1954 in Jefferson, Iowa to Darrell Dean and Shirley Ann Irwin. She grew up in Ames, Iowa and graduated from Ames High School in 1972. She married Bill Kruse and they raised two children: Tiffany and Tyler.
In 1994, the family moved to Shenandoah. Terri was employed at the Shenandoah Chamber of Commerce and KMA Radio. She began working as the Foundation Director for Shenandoah Medical Center in 2000 and continued as the Director of Events until her retirement in November 2020. As the Foundation Director, she implemented the annual Children’s Health Fair and raised significant funds benefiting the hospital. She truly loved the many friends and memories she made working at the hospital and was thankful for her contribution to the betterment of the community.
Terri served in many community organizations including: Rotary, P.E.O., Shenandoah Food Pantry, Forest Park, Book Club, Garden Club, and May Mentoring. She would often share fond memories from Book Club and Garden Club meetings and made many dear friends throughout her service.
Terri was a loyal Iowa State supporter and would often travel to football and basketball games. She loved to travel internationally and in recent years visited Iceland and Ireland. She also enjoyed researching ancestry, especially her Irish Heritage.
Terri was preceded in death by her husband Bill. She is survived by her parents, Darrell and Shirley Irwin of Bedford, Iowa; children, Tiffany Kruse of Iowa City, Iowa; Tyler (Carrie) Kruse of Des Moines, Iowa; brother, Tony Irwin, and many other cousins and relatives.
A private family celebration of Terri's life will be held following cremation. An open memorial visitation will be held for all of Terri's friends and relatives on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Nishna Valley Funeral and Cremation Service in Shenandoah from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. You can come in, sign the book, get a service folder (obituary), watch a tribute video of Terri's life and view a display of mementos of her life in a safe manner.
