Mary Ann Davis, daughter of William Edward and Mary Louise (Watkins) Jackson, was born on January 5, 1937 in southeast Iowa. She entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Oakland Manor Care Center in Oakland, Iowa, at the age of 84 years, 3 months, 14 days.
Her early life was spent growing up in Macon, Missouri. In her early to mid-teens, the family moved to Nashville, Tennessee. A few years later, Mary moved to Clarinda, Iowa, where she attended the Clarinda Community Schools, graduating from Clarinda High School with the Class of 1954.
On March 27, 1955, Mary was united in marriage to James Lee Davis in Indianapolis, Indiana. Following their marriage they made their home in Anderson, Indiana before settling in Shenandoah, Iowa. To this union six children were born, Donald, Larry, James Edward, Kevin Lee, Michael Allan and Kathy.
Through the years, Mary mostly worked as a homemaker to her husband and children. She did work for a time at the A & W in Shenandoah, Jim’s Fork & Q Restaurant and was an owner of several small businesses along with Jim. Mary was also a licensed realtor. She enjoyed traveling and working on crafts. Most of all, she loved spending as much time with her family as possible.
Preceding Mary in death were her parents; two sons, Donald and Larry Davis; and two sisters, Nancy Phillips and Penny Jackson. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, James Lee Davis of Shenandoah, IA; three sons, James Edward Davis and wife Jannelle of Oakland, IA, Kevin Lee Davis and Michael Allan Davis, both of Shenandoah, IA; daughter, Kathy Paez and husband, Manny of Shenandoah, IA; 16 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
A celebration of life service for Mary will be held at a later date.
