Juanita Lucille (Baucom) Manrose, daughter of Charles Aron and Dora Jane (Stueder) Baucom, was born on March 30, 1924, near Randolph, Iowa, the youngest of seven children. She entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa at the age of 97 years, 1 month, 19 days.
Her early life was spent growing up on a farm near Randolph, Iowa, with her brother and sisters. Her father worked as a farm hand after the depression. They didn’t have much, but her father made sure they always had shoes. Her mother gardened and preserved food, so there was always enough to eat. Juanita and her sisters learned to be good cooks at an early age. Juanita loved her garden, flowers and vegetables. She always had a beautiful section for flowers, for passersby to enjoy.
On October 6, 1947, Juanita was united in marriage to Charles Grover Manrose in Atchison, Kansas. To this union, three children, Sheila, John and Ron (her twins) were born. After their marriage their home was in Shenandoah. Grover was in the Air Force until 1963. When he retired from the Air Force, he worked briefly at Imperial Chemical and for 16 years at Farmaster.
When Juanita graduated from high school, she moved to the big city of Shenandoah and worked at McClellan’s Five and Dime Store but didn’t like it. She worked for Lake’s Nursery for three years. She then worked at Mount Arbor Nursery, where she worked for 50 years. She had a stroke in 2007 and moved to Garden View Care Center, where she lived out the rest of her life.
