Delores May (Livermore) Maher, entered into peace on Friday, February 25, 2022, in the comfort of her longtime rural Imogene home, surrounded by her family and her cherished pets at the age of 83 years, 1 month, 16 days.
Delores was born on January 9, 1939, at Hand Hospital in Shenandoah, Iowa, the daughter of Martin and Marguerite (Burns) Livermore. She attended the Shenandoah Community Schools, graduating from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1958.
On April 3, 1961, Delores was united in marriage to Dean Albert Maher at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Shenandoah by Monsignor Marasco. Following their marriage, they settled on a farm west of Imogene. The couple was blessed with two children, Debbie (Maher) Alm and Brad Maher. Delores focused on her home and family, raising her children and supporting her husband as he worked the farm.
Always valuing people, Delores was always ready with kind words and caring actions. She loved farm life, raising her children, and later, cherishing her grandchildren and great granddaughter. She worried over them, protected them, and was always their biggest cheerleader. Delores planted roots for her family, creating a solid foundation built on love, laughter and a sense of responsibility. After her children graduated, Delores gave more to the community, working at Mills County Public Health.
With an incredible sense of humor, laughter followed Delores everywhere. She never shied away from a good time and loved being out about. Delores cherished adventures with her family trips to Las Vegas with her husband, and entertaining visitors. She was a terrific hostess, welcoming guests and feeding everyone. She loved a good meal and a “red beer.” Family stories are laced with the goofy antics that Delores encouraged.
Preceding Delores in death were her parents, Martin and Marguerite Livermore; six brothers, Dick, Gary, Bill, Clarence, Bob and Gene Livermore; and two sisters, Janice (Livermore) McCurdy and infant sister, Beverly Livermore. Delores is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Dean Maher; two children, Debbie (Maher) Alm and Brad Maher; three granddaughters, Jana Bengtson (Andy), Cassie Maher (Kenny) and Anne Marie Maher (Jared); her beloved great granddaughter, Rhea Jensen; brothers, Jim (Sherry) Livermore and Ron (Shirley) Livermore; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
Delores’ love, strength and laughter will forever color the lives of those she touched.
