Deborah Diane Allen, daughter of Duane F.  and Maxine M. (Schakel) Allen, was born on October 19, 1953, at Camp Pendleton, California.  She entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa, at the age of 67 years, 10 months, 21 days.  A memorial service for both Deborah and her father, Duane, will be held at a later date.

Her early life was spent growing up mainly in the Chariton and Knoxville, Iowa, areas.  She graduated from Chariton High School with the Class of 1971.  In the late 1980’s Deb moved to Clarinda, Iowa, where she would live the remainder of her life.

Always wanting to keep busy, Deb enjoyed working and worked a variety of jobs through the years.  She worked for Dr. Harlan Bradrick, DDS for many years.   She also worked at the hotel in Clarinda and cleaned at an apartment complex as an extra job.  She worked at NSK for several years before last working at Casey’s before her health began to decline.

In her spare time Deb liked to go shopping, always looking for a bargain find.  She loved to go to used clothing stores and the Salvation Army Stores to find name brand clothing.  For Deb, it was the thrill of the hunt that she enjoyed.  In her younger years, she had a butterfly collection that she worked on and enjoyed all the animals on the farm, especially her cats and horses.  She was good swimmer and enjoyed going to the pool and she also practiced martial arts at Master Yew’s Academy.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the kindness, love and support provided by both St. Croix Hospice and Garden View Care Center throughout Deborah’s illness.

Preceding Deb in death were her grandparents; father, Duane F. Allen; and sister, Diana Jean (Allen) Visser.  Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Maxine M. Allen of Shenandoah; and brother, Michael Duane Allen of Shenandoah; other relatives; and many friends.
