OBITUARY:

David Coe Peterson, son of David Virgil and Patricia Lynn (Barrett) Peterson, was born on May 10, 1958, in Tucson, Arizona.   He entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 14, 2022, at the Iowa City VA Medical Center at the age of 63 years, 9 months, 4 days.

His early life was spent in Tucson, AZ, Columbia, MO, and Sidney, IA, before the family settled in Tarkio, MO where he graduated high school with the Class of 1976.  Dave lived in SW Iowa/NW Missouri area the remainder of his life.  Following high school, he attended school and learned the trade of diesel mechanics in Omaha, NE.

Through the years, Dave worked a variety of jobs.  Most notably, he worked training martial arts; at EATON Corp. driving a forklift; worked as a mechanic; and played music for several different bands who played at bars and other events; helped out on various farms; and drove a snowplow and truck for different employers as well as other various jobs.

A man with many talents and a colorful character, Dave’s list of hobbies and interests showcased this fact.   His various talents and interests notwithstanding: martial arts (incl. winning grandmaster trophies, training others, and beating up his friends and any others who dare stand in his way), playing guitar and other instruments in bands, composing music, trying to teach other people how to play instruments (but ultimately failing because no one was ever as good as he was), riding his Harley, taking in stray people and animals, trying to fix broken equipment but never getting around to finishing it, spending time with loved ones, outrunning the police in his Camaro, trying to help ghosts find peace, going fishing, wrangling snakes, walking in the woods, hunting, shooting guns, reading people’s auras, looking through his night vision goggles (in a non-creepy way), collecting various weapons, driving the snow plow and trucking, and doing anything and everything with his daughter, Mariah.

Leaving an indelible mark on this world, Dave will be greatly missed by all his family and friends left behind. Preceding him in death were his father, David V. Peterson, paternal grandparents, Lola and Frank Peterson and maternal grandparents, Marjorie and Virgil Barrett.  Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Mariah Roe and husband Donevan of Des Moines, IA, and a grandson on the way in June; mother, Patty Peterson of Boston, MA; sister, Lynn and husband Stephan of Boston, MA; niece, Kaitlin of Boston, MA; his long-term girlfriend, Diane Blevins of Rock Port, MO; other relatives; and many friends.
