Betty Ann (Grebert) Naico, daughter of Hilbert Heinrich Joseph Grebert and Frances Myrtle (Johnson) Grebert, was born on January 15, 1940, in Clarinda, Iowa. She entered into eternal peace on Wednesday morning, June 16, 2021, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 81 years, 5 months, 1 day.
Her early life was spent growing up on the family farm in rural Clarinda. There she learned an early work ethic, by helping with the chores and taking care of her younger siblings. She attended country school at Jackson school and graduated from Clarinda High School with the Class of 1958. Betty was in the choir and played the flute in band.
On June 19, 1959, Betty was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Naico in Clarinda. Following their marriage, they made their home in Essex, where they raised their three children, Rodney, Kevin and Stacy.
Always known for her hard work attitude, Betty began working at Johnson Grocery in Essex and later worked at Henry Fields Garden Center in Shenandoah and most of her working career was spent at the Murphy Company/JII and later Phoenix Promotions in Red Oak. In retirement, Betty stayed busy by helping others clean their homes and businesses.
Betty enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers and walking her dog, Kylie. She especially looked forward to attending and watching any and all activities and sports her kids and grandkids were involved in. Betty was a special soul and a born caregiver, frequently taking care of those in the community who weren’t able to take care of themselves. Through the years, she was a member of Pairs and Squares Square Dancing Club, the Merry Mixers and the Essex Presbyterian Church.
