Bill was born May  28. 1951, the son of William D. and Dolores M. (Maybe) Kruse in Mason City, Iowa.  He grew up on a dairy farm near Northwood, Iowa.  Bill graduated from Northwood High School and attended Iowa State University.  He accepted the position of manager at the Ames Earl May Store in 1972.  While managing the store he won seven district manager awards and many other competitions.  In 1982, he was honored with the distinction of Manager of the Year, presented to him by John Kidd.  Bill was promoted to District Supervisor in 1994 and moved with his family to Shenandoah.  Traveling with JD Rankin, Ed May and Betty Jane Shaw were among his fondest memories.

Bill was selected State Chairman of Ducks Unlimited in 1986 and 1987.  In those years he helped to raise nearly three million dollars for wildlife.

Bill loved the outdoors and hunted and fished in many places in the U.S. Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and South Africa.  He enjoyed many days at Taylor Lake and on the family farms.   One of his favorite trips was to Alaska.  He spent six weeks there bow hunting, fishing and touring national parks.

He is survived by his wife Terri, daughter Tiffany of Iowa City, son Tyler and daughter-in-law Carrie of Windsor Heights and a sister Carol Rueber of Sumner, IA

Per Bill’s wishes his body was cremated and a private graveside service held.  Memorials can be directed to the Shenandoah Food Pantry and People For Paws.
