Louise Marie (Rumley) Simpson was born on September 11, 1918 in Brush, Colorado to L. Bena (Yountz) and Melvin Rumley. Louise went to her heavenly home on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Elm Heights Care Center in Shenandoah at the age of 100 years and 33 days.
When she was five, she moved to Sidney, Iowa with her parents, two brothers and one sister. She attended and graduated from school in Sidney.
On March 15, 1939, Louise married Gilbert Simpson of Shenandoah and became the mother of his two sons. They lived in the country and Louise was a homemaker. She worked hard in their garden and then canned the produce for her family.
Later, Louise and Gilbert moved into Shenandoah where she worked at nurseries before becoming a house cleaner for many in town. It was reported that she was a dependable and excellent worker.
In 1974, Louise became a widow moving soon after to the newly built Forest Park Manor and lived there for 22 years. She moved then to Fair Oaks and spent her last years at Elm Heights.
In the early 1970's Louise joined Memorial Baptist Church and was a faithful attender as long as her health allowed. She enjoyed church services at the care centers and visits from church friends. Louise loved children and became an adopted grandmother to Heather Olsen and Kaylee Greene. She loved the children of the staff where she lived and called them her babies.
Although being a widow for over 44 year, Louise never lost her love for Gilbert. She looked forward to the day she could be in Heaven with him and her Lord. She is also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marguerite; brothers, Harry and Herbert; as well as stepsons, Darrell and Dwayne Simpson.
Left to cherish her memory is a nephew, Gary Treat and his wife Betty and their family as well as care takers and good friends Debbie and David Monahan. She also had many dear friends including staff members at the care facilities.
Louise chose a private burial which was held on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Rose Hill Cemetery with Pastor Don Buttry officiating. The special music of "Going Home" and "Good Night Lord" were played.
