Douglas E. "Doug" Hardisty

May 31, 1961 ~ September 21, 2018 (age 57)

Douglas Eugene Hardisty, son of Doyle Edwin and Caroleta Kay (Howrey) Hardisty, was born on May 31, 1961 in Clarinda, Iowa. Doug passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018 at his home in Shenandoah, Iowa following a long battle with cancer at the age of 57 years, 3 months, 21 days.

Anybody who knew Doug, knew he was a hard worker. He took things seriously, but when you got to know him they realized he also had a lighter side. He, however, had no problem telling anyone just what he was thinking.

Doug worked as a carpenter and did construction jobs for 30 plus years. Before that he served a short time in the Army. He worked for Oak View and Nebel Construction Companies before owning his own business for some time before becoming ill in August of 2015.

Preceding Doug in death were his parents; both maternal and paternal grandparents; and a granddaughter, Justice Johnson. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Inna Hardisty; his three children and one step-son, oldest daughter, Hailey Johnson and her husband Joseph and their two children, Ayden and Grace, all of Shenandoah, second oldest, Katie Cooper and her husband Justin and their three children, Kinley, Berkley and Arleigh, all of Council Bluffs, IA, son, Jacob Hardisty of Ft. Dodge, IA, and step-son, David Stone of Glenwood, IA. He had six grandchildren altogether. Doug is also survived by one brother, Michael Hardisty and his wife Delores and one sister, Brenda Hardisty Yott; other relatives and many friends.

Doug was a good man who had many good friends. He will be missed but never forgotten.

A celebration of Doug's life will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 4:00 pm at the Community of Christ Church in Shenandoah (Hwy 2 and A Ave). Memorials are being directed to the family.
