Carolyn L. Atterberry, 67, of Shenandoah, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Nebraska Medicine - Omaha.
Celebration of Life Funeral services for Carolyn will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Nishna Valley Funeral and Cremation Service in Shenandoah with Pastor Ron Nelson officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends with visitation and viewing on Monday, July 8, 2019 at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Burial will take place in the Farragut Cemetery. Memorials are being directed to the family.
Carolyn Lee (Tompkins) Atterberry, daughter of Kennard Theodore and Gretchen Anne (Kleckner) Tompkins, was born on January 29, 1952 in Shenandoah, Iowa. She entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Nebraska Medicine – Omaha at the age of 67 years, 5 months, 3 days.
Growing up in Clarinda, Iowa, Carolyn attended the Clarinda Community Schools, graduating from Clarinda High School with the Class of 1970.
On January 3, 1971, Carolyn was united in marriage to William Atterberry. To this union, three children were born, Jason, Erin and Jordan.
Through the years, Carolyn worked various jobs. She worked as a telephone operator, sold Avon products, worked at Central Surveys, Casey’s General Store and last worked at Fareway in Shenandoah before retiring.
Carolyn enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, her flower gardens and going to the casino. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her kids, grandkids, grand puppies and grand kitties.
Preceding Carolyn in death were her parents, Kennard and Gretchen Tompkins; brother, Kevin Tompkins; uncle, Alan Kleckner; aunt, Carolyn Kleckner; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William S. Kleckner and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Tompkins.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Jason Ross Atterberry of Marshalltown, IA, Erin Elizabeth Atterberry and Chris Bopp of Olathe, KS and Jordan Lee Atterberry and wife Annie of Altoona, IA; three grandchildren, Katie, Cade and Natalie Atterberry; sister, Cathy Brink and husband Paul of Farragut, IA; sister-in-law, Kathy Hall of Farragut, IA; nephew, Jeremy Tompkins his wife Tara and their sons, Hunter and Max of Shenandoah, IA; niece, Tiffany Hansen and husband Kevin of Shenandoah, IA; her grand puppies and grand kitties; other relatives and many friends
