Aloma Jean Snow

April 2, 1931 ~ September 29, 2018 (age 87)

Aloma Jean (Valentine) Snow, daughter of Lloyd Lorean and Ada Ora (Miller) Valentine, was born on April 2, 1931 in the family home at Red Oak, Iowa. She entered into rest on Saturday morning, September 29, 2018 at Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa at the age of 87 years, 5 months, 27 days.

In Jean's early life the family made several moves around southwest Iowa. They lived in Red Oak, Hamburg, Atlantic, Council Bluffs and Shenandoah. Shenandoah was where she settled and met the man of her dreams, Darwin Allen Snow, Sr. They were married on December 18, 1955. They made their home in Shenandoah where they raised their six children, Patricia Ann, Randall Allen, Barbara Louise, Darwin Allen, Jr, Christine Diane and Karen LeAnn.

A homemaker most of her life to Darwin and the kids, Jean also helped with Meals on Wheels. For four years prior to Darwin's death in February of 1999 they delivered meals around Shenandoah to shut-ins.

In her spare time, Jean enjoyed embroidering and crocheting. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shenandoah.

Preceding Jean in death were her parents; two daughters, Patricia Ann Snow and Karen LeAnn Blackman; granddaughter, Aurora Miller; brother, Vincent Valentine and sister, Arminta Swanson. Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Randall Allen Snow, Barbara Louise (Dean) Johnson, Darwin Snow, Jr, and Christine Diane Holcomb (Dave Million), all of Shenandoah; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; other relatives and many friends.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Nishna Valley Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Don Buttry officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends with visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday evening, October 2, at the funeral home. Memorials are being directed to the family.
