Obituary for Timothy "Tim" L. Haynie

Timothy Layne Haynie, son of Cletis Eugene and Norma Beatrice (Wilson) Haynie was born on November 8, 1951 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at his Shenandoah, Iowa home at the age of 66 years, 1 month, 13 days.

His early life was spent growing up on the family farm in Mills County, Iowa near Glenwood. Tim attended first through eighth grade at Elm Grove country school (only a half mile from his house). In his youth, he loved riding horses and milking the cows. He attended high school in Glenwood, graduating from Glenwood High School with the Class of 1970. Following graduation, Tim signed a six year commitment with the Iowa Army National Guard (1970-1976).

On April 27, 1971, Tim was united in marriage to Deborah Lee Chambers at the Glenwood Baptist Church. To this union three children Shawn, Shannelle and Shane were born. In September of 1971, Tim and Deborah moved to Shenandoah where they have lived since.
Initially, Tim worked for several full service gas stations in southwest Iowa. In October of 1971 he began his career with the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT). He retired after 35 years of service in 2006 at the age of 55. Tim also enjoyed working at the Shenandoah Livestock Auction.

A lover of animals, Tim rode and broke horses throughout his life. He enjoyed going to coffee with his friends at Mondo’s on a daily basis. Never knowing a stranger, Tim loved to talk and could discuss any topic with anyone.

Preceding Tim in death were his mother, Norma Haynie and infant daughter, Shannelle D. Haynie (June 15, 1973). Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Deborah Haynie; two sons, Shawn Haynie and wife Paula and Shane Haynie and wife Brenda; six grandchildren, Abigail, Ethan, Lauren, Sarah, Taylor and Ty Haynie, all of Shenandoah; brother, Larry Haynie and wife Cheryl of Stanton, IA; father, Cletis Haynie and wife Marj of Red Oak, IA; along with many dear friends and other extended family.

A celebration of life memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Shenandoah Elks Lodge #1122. In lieu of flowers, memorials are being directed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
