Keith Mahlon Sorensen was born on October 29, 1984 in Casper, Wyoming. He was taken from this world on September 19, 2017 at the age of 32.

Keith was a force of nature all of his own. He was fearless, enthusiastic, kind and loving. Keith always had a smile that proved to be infectious, spreading laughter and joy to others.

Keith’s love for football began at an early age before playing in elementary school as a Casper Bronco in the midget football league. After winning the city championship two years in a row, his football career continued through junior high and high school. He also participated in track and field, excelling at shot put and discus. Keith also proved to be a talented cross country skier, despite not having the typical body build. He was known as the “Giant Pumpkin” because he wore all orange at the cross country ski meets and always closed the gap with his competitors on the downhill portions of the course.

Keith was an accomplished saxophone player and was selected to be in the elite jazz band at his high school. His knowledge of music was vast and covered multiple genres, which amazed his family and friends.

In 2005 Keith joined his family in Iowa. Keith worked at Kirchert Electric, NSK, Stickler Tree Service, and Schildbergs Construction prior to starting his own business. In 2014, Keith and his brother Brad, began the Sorensen Brothers Southwest Iowa Tree Service. He enjoyed his job, took pride in his work and lived every day to its fullest. Amongst the many compliments was the description of being a “tree surgeon and artist”. His interactions with customers showcased his gentle spirit and attention to detail. His desire to please everyone was first and foremost.

Keith enjoyed spending his weekends on the golf course. His strength and gift at this sport was his soft touch around the greens. He was a faithful and loyal follower of the Nebraska Huskers, Denver Broncos and his high school team, the Natrona County Mustangs. Keith was an accomplished gamer, his favorite, being World of Warcraft. His passion for team work and excellence was evident in his approach while playing. A “General” who loved strategy and was able to get the most from those around him. His caring and willingness to help reached beyond the boundaries of a video game.

He loved to party and have a good time with his family and friends. He took great joy hosting others in his new home. His newest passion was being a doting uncle to his beloved niece, Annabelle. Above all things, Keith’s family and friends meant the most to him. He reveled in past get-togethers and looked forward to future functions with great enthusiasm and anticipation. He understood the importance for people needing each other and took the time to show his love for them, often with a crushing bear hug. He was the quickest to forgive.

Keith is survived by his parents, Mahlon and Kathy Sorensen of Clarinda, Iowa, brother Bradley, wife Lillian, and niece Annabelle, of Essex, Iowa, sister Brianna Sorensen of Clarinda, Iowa and significant other Josh Kohout of Omaha, Nebraska, Grandmother Marjorie Grenier of Casper, Wyoming and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who he thought of as siblings, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Edward Grenier, Walter and Ruby Sorensen, uncles Merle Sorensen, Marvin Sorensen, Mark Grenier and Paul Hansen.
