Obituary for Ester (Miller) Philpott

Lillian Ester Philpott, one of four children of Lillian Rae (White) and Glen Miller, Sr. was born on October 12, 1956 in Hamburg, Iowa. She passed away at the Elm Heights Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa, at the age of 60 years, 7 months, 2 days. She grew up in Hamburg where she attended school. Through the years, Ester had done factory work and owned her own tavern in Essex, Iowa.
Ester was a woman of many talents. She enjoyed crafts, woodworking and decorating. Ester loved spending time with her family and friends. She had the biggest heart and knew no strangers, for everyone she met were family to her.
Preceding Ester in death were her parents; son, Micheal Whitehill; and brothers, Glen Miller, Jr, and Joseph Miller. Ester is survived by her children, Chandra Osthoff of Essex, Nicholas Osthoff of Essex, and Jennifer Hoyt and husband David of Shenandoah; grandchildren, Adriana Osthoff and Colton Whitehill; sister, Glenda Ryan; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and special friends.
A celebration of life memorial gathering was held on Friday evening, May 19, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Nishna Valley Funeral & Cremation Service in Shenandoah. A memorial is being established in Ester's name. The Nishna Valley Funeral & Cremation Service was in charge of the arrangements
