Obituary for Emmett Lee Woodyard

Emmett Lee Woodyard, 40 day old infant son of Sadie Brooms and David Woodyard, entered into the arms of the Lord on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at the Shenandoah Medical Center.

Funeral services for Emmett will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the Nishna Valley Funeral & Cremation Service in Shenandoah. Burial will take place in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. Memorials are being directed to the Emmett Lee Woodyard Memorial Fund.


Emmett Lee Woodyard, son of Sadie Lynn Brooms and David Marshall Robert Woodyard , was born on August 1, 2017 at the Shenandoah Medical Center in Shenandoah, Iowa. He entered into the arms of his Lord on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at the Shenandoah Medical Center at the age of 1 month, 9 days.

Emmett loved to be cuddled. He also enjoyed watching TV (especially NASCAR), playing with his big sister Lyrica, being sang to, being danced with and sticking his tongue out at his family and friends.

Preceding Emmett in death were his great grandparents, Russ Wyant, Doyal Nosekabel, Jr., Jerry Glasgo, Jerry Brooms, James Gray and Bobbie Preston; grandfather, Dale Monroe Reich, Sr.; great aunts and uncles, Marsha and Robbie Harris, Paula Hopper and Brian Preston.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, David and Sadie of Shenandoah; sister, Lyrica Hale Woodyard and brothers, Brentley and Samuel Woodyard; grandparents, Mike and Sherrie McDowell, Conway Ferguson and Fiance Abbey Wilmes and Kevin and Brandie Woodyard; great grandparents, Barbara Gray, Barry Preston, Johnny McDowell, Judith Glasgo, Dave Woodyard and Janet Hastie; aunts and uncles, Ashley and Sid Harms, Alisha Woodyard and fiancé Ryan Gibson, Andrew Reich, Daniel Brooms and fiancé Zoey Yeager, Dale Reich, Jr, Shane Reich and Arwen Arnold, Sean McDowell, Dean Brooms and Crystal McDowell. Emmett was also survived by many more loving family members and friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nishna Valley Funeral & Cremation Service in Shenandoah with Pastor Dave Widger giving words of comfort. Casket bearers were Dean Brooms, Doug Padilla, Rio Woodyard and Thomas Blocker. Attending the registry were Paydon Whitehill and Kensila Saner. Special was “Dancing In The Sky”, Gone Too Soon”, “If Heaven Was Needing A Hero” “Tears In Heaven” and “Angel”. Caring for the flowers were Dale Reich, Heather Avery and Missy Lekey. Ushers were Kevin McDowell and Zachary James. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials are being directed to the Emmett Lee Woodyard Memorial Fund.
