Alan Dean Kirchert, son of Herbert Raymond and Phyllis Jean (Rydberg) Kirchert, was born on March 29, 1972 at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, IA. He entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 16, 2018 at the Hospice House in Omaha, NE at the age of 46 years, 18 days.

His early life was spent on the family farm outside of Essex. Alan's mother, Phyllis, passed away when he was six years old. He attended the Essex Community Schools through the fourth grade. Alan then attended the Shenandoah Community Schools after moving in with his sister, Pat and brother-in-law, Larry Athen and their children Darin and Carla. They lived on a farm outside of Shenandoah, where Alan’s love for the outdoors grew. He graduated from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1990.

Following graduation, Alan attended Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs and received his certificate in welding in 1991. While at Iowa Western, Alan worked at the Bluffs Run Dog Track. Alan began working at RoMech (D & L) in Red Oak in 1991. He worked for RoMech 15 years from 1991 through 2006. He worked a short stint with his brother, Les Kirchert and nephew, Brian Kirchert, at Kirchert Electric from October of 2006 to January 2007. He then worked for NSK in Clarinda for two years from January 2007 to January 2009, before following his heart and once again joining Kirchert Electric. He worked for Kirchert Electric until his health began to fail in September of 2016.

On November 26, 2005, Alan was united in marriage to Michelle Ann Shilhanek at Clarinda. Following their marriage they resided in rural Clarinda where Alan kept busy as a 4-H Leader for the Nodaway Harmony Hustlers and enjoyed managing his cow/calf operation. A diehard Nebraska Cornhusker fan, Alan loved following and supporting his favorite football team. He also enjoyed hunting and trapping, four wheeling and attending livestock sales at the sale barn.
Preceding Alan in death were his parents, Raymond and Phyllis Kirchert; paternal grandparents, Herbert and Margaret Kirchert; maternal grandparents, Virgil and Marian Rydberg; and a brother, Randy Kirchert.
